Our Angels
Precious Child Remembered
We know that you are hurting
We know just how you feel.
The pain deep inside your heart
You feel it can't be real.
We know what's going through your mind,
Thoughts that cloud it through the day.
We're on the road you're traveling now.
It can be handled, there's a way.
Don't fight the tears you're feeling,
You must just let them flow.
Speak of your child daily
To many people that you know.
Find others who can understand
They'll hold you as you cry.
The questions, we have all asked,
All the how's and every why.
We will always think of our child,
No one will have to say a word.
They will remain in our hearts
Our precious child remembered.

Zayne Alexander Price was born Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 7:52 a.m. He weighed 8lbs 5 oz and was 21 inches long! He was the most beautiful baby boy with lots of curly dark hair!
Our journey began when I was 17 weeks pregnant and one of my doctors advised that our unborn son appeared to have Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. He began to advise us of all of our options and he sent us to a pediatric cardiologist who confirmed his diagnosis. Dewayne and I were devastated by the diagnosis, but we knew that God had a purpose for our son and he would give us whatever we needed to give our son the best possible outcome. We initally kept this news very quiet and told only immediate family and close friends, so I could emotionally and physically manage my pregnancy without a lot of questions from concerned family and friends. This diagnosis meant 3 different open heart surgeries over a period of 3 to 4 years. The blessing is that it was caught early, monitored, and a plan was put in place for his care. Twenty-five years ago, there was no hope for children born with this heart defect, but with modern technology we knew our son had a chance at a normal life. We had an awesome team of Christian doctors for both myself and Zayne. God knows who to put in your life.
Once Zayne was born, the gag order I imposed on immediate family and friends, seems to have been broken and we had a tremendous outpouring of love and support. From birth, Zayne underwent open heart surgery at 5 days old and numerous surgeries/procedures during his 13 weeks on this earth. He battled back from everything and showed us his will to live. On Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 3:15 a.m. our little angel stopped fighting and went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
It is unthinkable and almost unbearable to lose a child, but we know Zayne touched so many people and taught us so much is a very brief time period. He was one tough little guy! Zayne was fiesty, intense, loved to snuggle, and wise beyond his 3 months of age. He came here with half a heart, but left with our whole heart.
We will forever be grateful to Medical City Dallas Congenital Heart Surgery Unit for giving us the gift of time with our son. Although his stay was brief, our son left us and many others the gift of faith, courage, perserverance, unconditional love, and to pray without ceasing. We are richer as family because of his presence in our lives.
To God be the glory for the things he has done!
