Community Outreach Coordinator Job Description (July - December 2023) Who We Are: At Heart N Hands, our mission is to empower, educate and raise awareness of heart health and disease prevention amongst young girls aged 10-18 and their families. For the past 9 years, our dynamic team has achieved this by providing heart health education, promoting 5K race events and fitness workshops, and encouraging healthy lifestyle choices related to disease prevention and cardiovascular wellness.
The Role: We are currently seeking an excited and energetic Community Outreach Coordinator to join our amazing team. This position will report to the Founder/President and is responsible for HNH outreach and recruitment of national and local partners for fundraising initiatives. The anticipated hours for this role will be part-time, 20 hours/week.
Responsibilities: The Community Outreach Coordinator’s primary responsibilities are to build strategic relationships in the community as it relates to fundraising, assist with conducting a variety of outreach events/activities, and recruit and retain volunteers for all HNH programs. The community outreach and recruitment expectations include: 1. Creating and implementing annual community outreach plans 2. Developing marketing plans for recruiting new volunteers and clients in line with organizational objectives 3. Recruiting, placing, retaining and supporting HNH volunteers 4. Attending relevant community meetings and events 5. Conducting and compiling annual partner and volunteer satisfaction surveys 6. Maintaining relationships with collaborative partners and cultivating new ones 7. Developing the monthly HNH Calendar of Events and coordinating special events 8. Creating, coordinating and implementing volunteer recognition activities (annual volunteer appreciation events, volunteer e-Newsletter, securing volunteer awards for special achievements) 9. Managing volunteer database and reporting functions 10. Recording monthly volunteer hours in a timely manner for volunteers and board of directors
Qualifications & Competencies: Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum one year experience in successful community outreach/recruitment and volunteer coordination; Have an interest in the non-profit sector, fundraising and the Heart N Hands mission Excellent public speaking and presentation skills; Ability to connect with others and forge strong relationships; Committed to the mission of educating young girls about heart health; Highly organized, analytical, IT-competent – proficient in Microsoft Office programs; Ability to perform several tasks concurrently, time management and organizational skills; Ability to support, network and motivate staff, volunteers and clientele; Ability to maintain confidential information; Ability to organize and maintain detailed records; complete necessary paperwork and meet deadlines.
Essential functions/working conditions: Light physical demands; Able to work under pressure, meet deadlines and changing priorities; Able to operate computer/computer systems; Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
