OUR HISTORYHEART N HANDS is a nonprofit organization based in New Orleans, Louisiana focused on heart health awareness, prevention and education for young girls in our community founded in September 2014 by Essence Harris Banks, "heart disease" survivor since 2004.
"Heart disease is the #1 killer of women that’s why I am excited to partner with such a great group of professionals to help educate young girls about heart disease prevention" said Essence Harris Banks, President/Founder of Heart N Hands, Inc. “Heart N Hands has the potential to be a major positive influence on the future women, as our adolescent girls are empowered with awareness and tips for prevention of time sensitive killers - heart disease and stroke. The cycle of premature disease, disability, and death can be broken” said Sheryl Martin-Schild, MD, PhD, FANA, FAHA, Heart N Hands Board Member and Director of the Stroke Program at Tulane University Health Science Center “As a registered dietitian, my passion and reason for supporting Heart N Hands is to educate and motivate people by showing them that good nutrition doesn’t have to be hard," said, Molly Kimball, Heart N Hands Advisory Member, RD, CSSD, Ochsner Health System, Elmwood Fitness, WGNO/ABC26 News|NOLA.com|Times Picayune |
